Day 1, 2, 3 & 4: WAYANAD
Lost in the middle of tea plantations, this ample place will welcome you at homestays where you will discover the Indian way of life, and more particularly the Indian woman way of life. You will discover some traditional factories such as bamboo or jute bag units where they make new design bags with eco friendly materials. Indian cooking is very varied and diverse; you will try some traditional dishes and experiment new food. The interaction between different cooking will complete each other.
You have an opportunity to meet people from various walks of life such as craftswomen, the local women political leader and a meeting with entrepreneurial women. At last in parallel to discover the women condition, let’s discover the area by trekking among glorious spice plantations such as pepper vines, cardamom, latex trees, and coffee plantations to arrive at amazing points of view.
Day 5 & 6: CALICUT
In this beautiful coastal town which is very famous for its ancient spice trade with Arabs and Europeans, you will be able to walk among crowd and friendly streets and interact with the local population. The dishes made out of fish and its smell and taste will tempt you. You cannot miss it! Come to discover traditional martial arts called ‘Kalaripayattu’ performed by women; it will be astonishing!
Then, you will interact with an inspiring woman called Jiffriya; she is the first woman to drive an auto rickshaw (Tuk Tuk). A very rewarding and interesting conversation which makes you understand better the place of women in the Indian society. Lastly, you will enjoy discussing with women entrepreneurs.
Day 7, 8, 9 & 10: ALLEPPEY
In this town famous for its Chinese nets, beaches and backwaters, you will feel peaceful. Between earth and water, open your mind and spirit by visiting temples. Let’s visit prawn peeling and discover masterpieces of women artists. Because backwaters cannot be missed during a journey in Alleppey, enjoy a traditional boat journey during a day across the region. Lastly, appreciate a meeting with the woman leader of civil society, an amazing woman who will explain the reasons of her commitment in politics and her fights. You will also visit and stay with an amazingly beautiful eco friendly cottage organized by group of women entrepreneurs in this region who affected by 2004 Tsunami.
The trip ends by a stop at Fort Kochi, known for its beautiful sight seeing, giving you your last memories of this enriching trip.
